Abstract

Asuransi merupakan sesuatu yang sudah lazim didengar dan ditawarkan kepada masyarakat. Akan tetapi, OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development) menunjukkan data bahwa ternyata permintaan asuransi masyarakat Indonesia lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan negara tetangga. Sampel pada penelitian ini didapatkan dengan menggunakan kuisioner dan hanya individu yang sudah memiliki asuransi dan berdomisili di Batam dapat berpartisipasi dalam penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil olah data, diketahui bahwa financial literacy dan precautionary motive tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan. Sedangkan faktor demografi dan life-cycle motive, serta wealth accumulation motive terbukti berpengaruh signifikan positif. Terakhir bequest motive terbukti memiliki pengaruh signifikan negatif.
